Manure Spreading & Composting Demonstration

Status: Completed
Project Timeline: January 2008 – December 2010
Objectives
- To work with teams, partners and cooperators to identify key demonstration projects
- To demonstrate effective ways to help farmers manage their manure and compost (BMPs)
- To provide tools and information to farmers to encourage adoptions of manure and compost BMPs.
Progress
- Set up demos with 7 key cooperators with manure, compost and compost tea.
- Set up cooperative agreements with 2 soil labs and sampled starting baselines for all demos.
- Partnered with Peace Region Forage Seed Association to hire Vicki Moser for summer of 2008 and to hire Megan Harwood and Courtney Thompson for summer 2009.
- Matched funds for extensive monitoring and demos ended March 2010
- Equipment available for rent to producers.
