Barley Straw Dugout Demonstration

Objectives
- To evaluate using barley straw to reduce algae growth in dugouts
Progress
- Two dugouts near Dawson Creek were divided using a curtain. Barley straw was applied to half of each dugout. Water was sampled monthly throughout the 2003-04 growing season for chloropyl (indicator of plant growth).
- This project was part of a Western Canada wide research study coodinated by Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (Agri-Food Canada).
