DESCRIPTION:Garlic\, Grazing\, Chickens\, Pigs & Cover Crops\nTuesday\, August 4 | 7:00–9:00 PM\n8396 264 Road\, Rose Prairie\, BC\nPart of the PRFA August Grazing Series \nHow much can you produce from a small land base?\nJoin us for an informal evening exploring how crops\, livestock and grazing can be combined to make the most of every acre. \nThis first stop in our August Grazing Series is especially geared toward small-scale producers\, new and beginning farmers\, homesteaders\, and anyone working with a limited land base. Whether you already have livestock\, are considering adding a new enterprise\, or simply want to see what other producers are trying\, come prepared to walk\, look and ask questions. \nRather than a formal workshop\, we’re keeping this evening intentionally small and conversational\, with plenty of opportunity to talk directly with the producer and other participants. \nWhat we’ll explore\nGarlic + perennial forage\nSee how a high-value annual crop is being integrated directly into a perennial forage field that continues to be used for livestock grazing. \nStacking livestock enterprises\nWe’ll look at how cattle\, chickens and occasionally pigs are incorporated into the same land base — and discuss some of the practical opportunities and challenges of managing multiple livestock species. \nA barn that moves itself\nTake a look at the Rova-Barn\, a self-moving mobile chicken barn designed to move poultry across pasture while integrating them into the grazing system. \nCover crops that do more than cover soil\nExplore how cover crops can provide grazing and feed value alongside their soil benefits.
